Dr. Abhijeet Patil is a Founder and Geriatric Medicine specialist at Rekindle HealthCare in India. He was an assistant professor at University of Massachusetts (UMASS) Medical School and Residency program for almost 7 years.

His work in the United States of America has involved laying the foundation for Geriatric Medicine framework at Fitchburg Family Medicine Residency program. Under his guidance and directorship, Geriatric medicine, hospital medicine and community health curricula were set up for budding family medicine residents.

He was bestowed with Teacher of the year award (2013-2014, 2015-2016) and Excellence in Education award 2015-16 in recognition of his dedication and commitment for medical education and patient care at UMASS.

He established a Geriatric Medicine clinic in an underserved area of Massachusetts at Dr. R. Babineau Family Wellness center in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, USA from 2015-2018.

Driven by the passion to serve the most vulnerable population, he founded a multidisciplinary Telemedicine Geriatric clinic in remote areas of state of Maharashtra, India with the help of a grant from Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) and New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). With the help of technology and innovative thinking he was able to bridge the distance of more than 13000 kilometers to provide the quality Geriatric healthcare from USA to India.

Dr. Abhijeet Patil produced an award-winning short film “Dementia-hello zindagi”, which highlights the predicaments related to memory loss/dementia in older adults and its impact on relationship between generations. This short film is well acclaimed internationally and has won the award at Film Festival at Barcelona, Spain and International film festival Pune, India.

He received his bachelor’s medical degree (M.B.B.S.) from Grant Medical College, J.J. Hospital, Mumbai, India. He then pursued his postgraduation and super specialization education in United states of America.

He earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Exercise Science and Athletic Training (Sports Medicine) at Miami University Oxford, Ohio. He completed his Medicine residency at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He went on to do a super specialization in Geriatric Medicine to care for the complex and most vulnerable population of older adults at University of Massachusetts Medical School Worcester, Massachusetts.

He is a regular column writer in multiple newspapers on a variety of topics ranging from climate change, plightof the farmers and health and wellbeing related issues.

Dr. Abhijeet Patil returned to India after spending 14 years in a healthcare career in the United States to develop a Center of Excellence for care of older adults and have laid the foundation of Rekindle HealthCare Institute.

Executive Director, Rein in Sarcoma (RIS) – United States Based Nonprofit Organization

Janelle began volunteering with RIS when the founder, Karen Wyckoff, began to organize the first Party in the Park fundraiser for sarcoma cancer research in 2001. Janelle assisted the growth of RIS since the beginning with Karen and her parents. The organization has gone on to fund over 2 million dollars in sarcoma cancer research, with 79 grants and counting. Janelle has a rich history of pharmaceutical sales, financial advising and aviation staff training. Janelle became the Executive Director for RIS in July of 2017 and continues to support the sarcoma community with education, community building and events management to fund critical rare, connective tissue cancers (Sarcomas) research.
